Based on factors such as material selection, design complexity, and product precision requirements, Layana evaluates and proposes the optimal approach to ensure efficient development.
For plastic prototypes, 3D printing is commonly used to evaluate the product's external form and structural design. However, such prototypes are typically non-functional and cannot support functional testing, such as airtightness or electrical conductivity testing. For products that combine plastic and metal components, we would recommend using different levels of soft tooling prior to finalizing the design. This approach allows functional testing to be conducted with prototypes that closely resemble the final product, enabling early assessment of manufacturing feasibility and reducing the risk of discovering design, assembly, or material issues only after mass production begins.
For metal prototypes, multiple fabrication methods — such as etching, laser cutting, bending, and CNC machining — can be combined to produce functional prototypes without necessarily requiring tooling development. This flexible approach allows rapid validation of design and functionality during the early stages of product development.
