Early Operations — A Garage, a Vision, NTD$ 200,000
In 1982, the founder armed with only a small seed capital and a vision embarked on a journey to start a business in a humble warehouse, utilizing his own home garage.
In the year of 1982, the founder — armed with only a small seed capital of NTD$ 200,000 and a vision — embarked on a journey to start a business in a humble warehouse, utilizing his own garage at home.
From that single workshop grew the foundation of every capability we offer today: tool & die design, progressive stamping, and the engineering discipline that still defines Layana four decades later.
The First Expansion — 1,800 m² Factory
A new three-level, 1,800 m² factory was completed in 1990. A year later, stainless-steel cutlery began shipping to the UK, France, Germany, Australia, and the United States.
In 1990, the new factory — spanning 1,800 m² across three levels — was completed. A year later, the manufacturing and sales of stainless-steel cutlery began in various countries across Europe and America, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, and the United States.
This was Layana's first step from a domestic tooling shop to a globally exporting manufacturer.
ISO 9002 Certified
Layana established a structured quality management foundation, expanding to full ISO 9001 the following year.
In 1996, Layana established a structured quality management foundation by obtaining ISO 9002 certification — demonstrating robust production and process control.
The following year, Layana achieved ISO 9001 certification, expanding its framework to a more comprehensive and systematic approach to quality assurance.
A Reusable Cutlery Brand
Layana Cutlery launched, designed around Oriental and Western traditions to displace disposables.
In 2000, Layana Cutlery was established and designed based on the cultural heritage of the Orient — chopsticks — alongside Western cutlery: forks, knives, and spoons.
To promote the importance of reusable cutlery over disposables, Layana used its existing stamping and plastic injection techniques to produce portable chopsticks, child sets, and more.
Investment in China
Offices opened in Kunshan, Suzhou, and Guangzhou. A joint venture in Suzhou integrated local supply chains.
In 2010, Layana opened offices in Kunshan, Suzhou, and Guangzhou respectively. Layana also formed a joint venture with a local mold and stamping factory in Suzhou to integrate the local supply chain.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management
Better environmental management became a top business priority — Layana achieved ISO 14001 certification in 2016.
To achieve better environmental management, obtaining ISO 14001 certification was one of Layana's top priorities in business planning. The certification was achieved in 2016 and laid the groundwork for our green factory ambitions.
Family Business Succession
The second generation took over, integrating technology and engineering for one-stop customized production and inspection.
Starting in 2017, the second generation took over the responsibilities of running the business — aiming to integrate existing technology and engineering capabilities to deliver customized automatic production and inspection equipment.
As a one-stop service company, mold design, production, and inspection for assembled, stamped, and injected parts are all completed in the same factory.
New Headquarters & the EV Supply Chain
Layana moved into its new 12,630 m² headquarters and joined the supply chain of a global top-3 EV manufacturer.
With continued growth, Layana moved into its new headquarters in September 2018 — covering a total floor area of 12,630 m². The building's colors represent five elements of the earth: the sun, blue sky, clouds, plants, and soil. It was designed with environmental friendliness and energy conservation in mind.
That same year, Layana joined the supply chain of a global top-3 EV manufacturer — opening a new chapter in our electrification capabilities and positioning the company as a long-term partner for the EV industry.
Moving Toward the Vision
Renewed IATF 16949, plus Green Building Gold and ISO 50001 Energy — merging environmental rules into company culture.
In 2019, Layana not only renewed the IATF 16949 certification but obtained Green Building – Gold Level and ISO 50001 Energy Management System — embedding environmental and energy rules into our company culture.
Among the World's First Green Factories
Layana achieved recognition as one of the world's first certified Green Factories — meeting both Green Building and Cleaner Production requirements.
Layana, in 2022, achieved recognition as one of the world's first green factories under the Green Factory Certification System. This certification is only attainable by successfully meeting the requirements of the Green Building and Cleaner Production Assessment Systems combined.
ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Verification
Layana measured organizational carbon emissions to set a clear baseline — with the ultimate goal of reducing and eliminating GHG emissions.
In 2024, Layana obtained ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gases certification early in the year — measuring the organization's carbon emissions, with the ultimate goal of reducing and eliminating GHG emissions.
An IATF 16949 Certified Advanced Engineering Solution Provider
Today, Layana Company is an IATF 16949 certificated manufacturer and advanced engineering solution provider. We integrate multiple manufacturing processes under one roof — precision metal stamping and insert molding, with automation or assembly lines, to produce parts and sub-modules. Our products are applied in EVs, energy, automotive, electronics, aerospace, and more.
Our pride in precision stamping is making small and high-complexity metal parts in mass production — applied with stamping techniques such as fine blanking, deep drawing, and microstamping. With four decades of experience in the tool and die-making field, progressive stamping is one of our strengths.
For plastic injection, we produce high-precision modules from small to medium-large sizes, with machines from 35T to 250T — supporting clients from prototype to product, especially when combined with metals such as lead frames. Bi-material integrated plastic science is our strength in this field.
We focus on being our clients' backbone — minimizing their risks across the manufacturing chain. Our aim: to become the world's largest and most advanced manufacturer of EV, aerospace, and energy products.
